We are proud of our strong lineage that can be directly traced to the origins of modern day Taekwondo and includes some of the most accomplished and respected masters in the world.
GM Kim was born in South Korea and raised in Brazil. He moved to the US to attend school at NYU where he graduated with honors. He founded J. W. Kim Taekwondo in 1995 leading it to be one of the most successful schools in Colorado.

Master Mike is a 6th degree black belt with over 34 years' of Taekwondo experience. He is the head instructor and manager of the DTC dojang, provides oversight for Highlands Ranch and is a partner at Castle Pines. Master Mike is a former member of the Colorado State Demonstration Team. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder. He has been a board member for The Black Belt Foundation since 2008. His wife is a 2nd degree black belt.
Grand Master Shaw is a 7th degree black belt. Master Shaw has a B.A. from the University of Washington and is very active with skiing, playing bridge, and traveling. She also has a son who is a 2nd degree black belt.
Master Nina is a 5th degree black belt candidate and has been studying Taekwondo for over 20 years. She earned her B. A. in Spanish from the University of Arizona and her Masters of Education from the University of Colorado at Denver. She taught Spanish at several schools in the Denver area before retiring from Thomas Jefferson High School. She also has a son who is a 4th degree black belt.
Master Pat is a 5th degree candidate with more than 15 years of experience. Master Pat leads our lunch hour executive classes, quarterly adult boot camps, and assists at some of our after school programs. A proud mother of 2, Master Pat attended CSU before becoming a flight attendant for United Airlines.
Master Cody is a 6th degree candidate. With more than 28 years of Taekwondo experience, he is the head master of the Castle Pines school. Master Cody has won numerous state and national sparring titles.
Miss Page has over 30 years of various teaching experience and a passion for helping students succeed. With an MS in Special Education focused on Social Emotional Learning, she spent 10 years working with juvenile delinquents before homeschooling her children for 20 years and leading homeschool groups. Since 2019, she has taught Taekwondo at Highlands Ranch. She also enjoys embroidery and actively participates in the Daughters of the American Revolution and Children of the American Revolution.
Miss Charity is a 2nd degree black belt. She has been practicing Taekwondo for 10 years and started as an activity she could do with her son (also a Second Degree Black Belt). Prior to instructing classes, Ms. Charity was a fraud investigator for an insurance company. She is also a triathlete, competing in many different races, both road and trail. She was a qualifier and participant in both the 2016 and 2017 USAT National Championships.
All of our instructors are a minimum of 2nd degree black belt with at least five years of Taekwondo experience.
