Attention
We have one of the best student to instructor ratios you’ll find anywhere. Our Little Dragon classes often have a 4 to 1 ratio and our children’s classes are often 5 to 1 or better. By creating these great ratios we are able to provide our students with the attention they deserve.
Attitude
We work very hard here to promote a positive attitude and atmosphere. We constantly challenge our students in a supportive environment teaching students that with some perseverance and a positive attitude, you can always accomplish more than you believe.
Experience
We have been open for 23 years and our head masters have over 100 years of combined teaching experience. No martial arts school knows the Greenwood Village, Cherry Hills Village, Highlands Ranch, and Castle Pines areas better. We work consistently with various schools, health clubs, and organizations and we routinely support schools and charitable efforts in our community.
Instructors
All of our head instructors are well qualified. They are all at least 2nd degree black belts and have been students for a minimum of 5 years. Most of our head instructors are now 3rd or 4th degree black belts. They have also spent several years in our STORM Team program which teaches young students to become leaders and instructors inside and outside of the dojang.
Lineage
We are proud of our lineage. Grandmaster Kim trained at the first school in Brazil which was founded by Grandmaster Sang Min Cho. Grandmaster Cho was sent to Brazil from Korea to start Taekwondo. Grandmaster Kim's master, Grandmaster Yeo Jun Kim, was a student of Grandmaster Cho's. Our school is directly connected to modern day Taekwondo's beginning and foundation.
In 2019 Grandmaster Kim was inducted into the Taekwondo Hall of Fame for his many achievements as a practitioner, a master and instructor, his impact on Taekwondo globally, and his work with The Black Belt Foundation where he truly has been "a champion of freedom and justice".
Private Lessons
We offer private lessons with any of our masters and instructors. Private lessons are a great way to get ahead for belt testing, get caught up after a long vacation, or just work to perfect your techniques. In addition, we give every color belt student under 13 opportunities to have free private lessons with an instructor or STORM team member throughout the year.
More Than Just Taekwondo
In addition to teaching Taekwondo, we also offer a variety of other events to our students. Some of the events we have coordinated in the past include the following:
Not Just a Black Belt, a J.W. Kim Black Belt
Our students are exposed to one of the most expansive and comprehensive curriculum that we have seen at any school with the teaching of traditional Taekwondo, WT/Olympic Taekwondo, and ITF Taekwondo supplemented with various other martial arts to provide a great variety in training and self defense. In addition, we have a life skills program that is worked on in our Children's classes. Through their training we teach our students to embody and live the Tenets of Taekwondo (Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Indomitable Spirit, and Self-Control). All of our black belts are required to complete community service projects and school aged students must meet academic requirements before their black belt testing. Students who are able to become role models in their community exemplify our expectations of a J.W. Kim Black Belt. See where many of them are now!
